The numbers
Domestic work in Cancún, in figures
Casana did not invent these numbers. They come from INEGI, IMSS and CONASAMI. Every figure carries its source and a link, so anyone can check it.

This is not a small trade. It is 4.2% of everyone employed in the country.

What the law says
The floor, not the ceiling
$342.47
pesos a day is the 2026 professional minimum wage for domestic workers in the general zone, which includes Quintana Roo. Up 13% on 2025.
That is the legal minimum. You can agree on more — and many do.
CONASAMI · 2026 — Infobae
$3,829
pesos a month is the average income in the sector. Women earn under $3,767; men $4,399. Most work only two or three days a week, which is why the monthly average sits far below the daily minimum times 30.
The gap between women and men exists even here.
INEGI · 2026 — Infobae
And it is going backwards
Every year there are fewer registered, not more
41,762 → 38,643
women registered with IMSS between 2023 and February 2026. It fell three years running. Today that is 1.8% of all domestic workers in the country.
The law exists. What does not exist is anyone keeping it.
